A hackathon to tackle logistical challenges in the port of Antwerp
This hackathon (read: “what is a hackathon?”) will be the biggest and boldest of its kind, and will showcase the innovative character of the city of Antwerp and the Port of Antwerp.
Our partners in the Port of Antwerp are reaching out to entrepreneurs and the startup community to collaborate on innovation in logistics.
Backed by our large community and network, you will be able to hack your way into the Port of Antwerp … and beyond.
Logistics Of The Future will focus on 4 different themes, each having a place in the port of Antwerp. These themes are selected by Cepa and NxtPort.
3 DAYS – 2 NIGHTS
3 inspiring days and 2 nights of developing innovation around logistics in the port. You can hack day AND night from 9 – 11 December 2016.
Building new solutions to implement in the Port of Antwerp. This with the support of the port of Antwerp and the full harbour community.
Port of the Furture ’16 will focus on 4 different themes, each linked to logistics & port.
CYBERSECURITY & OPEN DATA
In this theme, two opposites come together: the world has never been more open, yet never as secured as nowadays. In our current world, everything is connected, which allows us to share data so we can work better together on the challenges of tomorrow.
How can open data strenghten and connect players in the port? How can we make sure nobody can hack our systems while implemeting this open data?
SAFETY & EDUCATION
In the fast-changing world of the port, safety and education are two major topics; always subject to changing rules, trends and information. Let your light shine on all creative possibilities about safety and education and help build a stronger and smarter port!
How can we implement smart technology to make the harbor environment a safer environment?
How can we make sure everyone at the port stays educated about technology?
LOGISTICS & INFRASTRUCTURE
The port is a juncture where all 3 modes of transportation, sea, land and air may interact. Any inefficiencies in utilizing assets (containers, warehouse space, cranes, vessels etc.), coordination between various stakeholders (local and international) can bear huge costs.
How can we create a better ship berth management system?
How can optimize customs inspection?
How can we create an efficient way to follow up free storage for import containers?
IMPORT/EXPORT & CONNECTIVITY
Being a major import and export port of Europe, millions of Euros worth of goods pass through the Port of Antwerp on a weekly basis. With rapid changes and fragilities across industries, optimizing goods flow and supply chain optimization is becoming a key competitive advantage.
How can we track and trace hazardous goods?
How can we get transportation insights, both land and sea?
